Simplifying...Letting natural beauty shine through...

Beginning to work on the idea of reflecting colour...

Showing some older pieces in Old Montreal

At Les Gourmets Pressés in Old Montreal I am exhibiting 4 paintings for the summer of 2010. I think of it as a preamble to a new series/style that I am currently working on. As mentioned before, this one will focus more on light and colour rather that representation. I want to pull back from nature and present a more landscape, "big picture", approach to the beauty of the Earth.

Summer 2010

Evolution

There is a change that is occurring...a difference in the way that I am seeing colour. The chaos is becoming calm. Forms are merging. Peace is becoming more evident.

These are all windows into nature. I like to capture the feeling of the land at specific times.

I am gearing towards a geographical record of the colours and mood in the wild that surrounds me. Spreading myself outwards to include more area...more of a complete story.

I am feeling inspired. I am in the mood to work. Series 3 is coming along well.


Sky sky sky...through the forest...on autumn walks.
The trees glitter with hints of gold.
The crickets wake.
Air so fresh, you can smell the turning leaves.

Always a little nervous just before the exhibit opens...going through he list of things that still need to be done...wires on the back of paintings, check wine, contact musicians, distribute last bits of publicity, send out last-minute invites to the vernissage...etc., etc.
